The NREMT at a glance
- 70 to 120 questions in up to 2 hours. The test is computer-adaptive: it stops as soon as it can make a pass or fail decision with 95% confidence, so the length varies. Ten of the questions are unscored pilot items.
- $104 per attempt, paid to the National Registry. You test at a Pearson VUE center or online with OnVUE remote proctoring.
- New exam since April 7, 2025. Questions now follow the call (scene size-up, primary assessment, secondary assessment, treatment and transport, operations) instead of topics like airway, cardiology and trauma, and pediatric care is woven throughout. Besides multiple choice, expect multiple-response, options-table, build-list and drag-and-drop items.
