To become a Notary Public in Maryland, applicants must complete a state-approved education course and pass an examination, then submit an online application to the Maryland Secretary of State. New notaries must be at least 18 years old, of good moral character, and reside or work in Maryland. After application approval, an oath of office must be taken at the Clerk of the Circuit Court within 30 days, where an additional fee is paid.
