To become a licensed Real Estate Agent in Mississippi, individuals must complete 60 hours of MREC-approved pre-licensing education and pass a course final exam. After finding a sponsoring broker and submitting a license application with a $120 fee, applicants must pass the Mississippi Real Estate Salesperson Exam administered by PSI. A 30-hour post-license course is required within one year of receiving a temporary license to obtain a permanent license, and a background check with fingerprints is also mandatory. While Mississippi does not have formal reciprocity agreements, it does offer a pathway for out-of-state licensees to apply, and provides full reciprocity for military service members and their spouses, as well as for those establishing residency with a license from another state for at least one year.
