To become a licensed barber in Nevada, individuals must complete a 1500-hour training program from a Board-approved barber school, followed by an 18-month apprenticeship under a licensed barber. After completing the training, applicants must pass the Nevada State Board Apprentice Barber Examination (Written and Practical) and then, after the apprenticeship, the Nevada Registered Barber Examination (Written and Practical). The licensing body is the Nevada State Barbers' Health and Sanitation Board. Reciprocity is available for those licensed in other states who meet Nevada's requirements, including taking the Nevada examination and providing proof of 5 years of experience within the last 10 years.
