The AICPA's Professional Ethics self-study examination or other qualifying examination utilized by the Board must also be completed. Foreign applicants may also apply under reciprocity and must either pass the CPA exam under U.S. requirements or show verification of successful completion of the IQEX (for Canadian, Australian, New Zealand, and Mexican chartered accountants). |

Nebraska is a two-tiered state, issuing a Certificate upon passing the CPA exam and a Permit to Practice after meeting experience requirements. An ethics exam (Nebraska Board Ethics Exam and AICPA Ethics Exam) is required for certification. Experience can be 2 years (4,000 hours) in public accounting, 2 years (4,000 hours) at the Nebraska Department of Revenue or Nebraska Auditor of Public Accounts, or 3 years (6,000 hours) in private industry, government, or academia. Combining different types of work experience increases the requirement to 3 years (6,000 hours). All experience must be supervised by an active CPA and completed within the past 10 years. |
