To become a licensed Dental Hygienist in North Dakota, applicants must graduate from a CODA-accredited dental hygiene program, pass the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination (NBDHE), a regional clinical exam (CRDTS, WREB, SRTA, CITA, ADEX), and the North Dakota Jurisprudence Exam. A criminal history record check and current CPR certification are also required. North Dakota offers licensure by credential for experienced dental hygienists licensed in other states with substantially equivalent requirements.

| Notes | CPR certification is required and must provide hands-on training. A minimum of 2 hours of CE must be in ethics or jurisprudence, and 2 hours in infection control. Newly licensed dental hygienists are exempt from CE requirements for their first renewal if licensed by examination within 24 months of renewal. Renewal is by December 31 of odd-numbered years. Applicants must complete a criminal history record check. Applications must be completed within 12 months of filing. There is no minimum age specified. |
