route How to become a dental hygienist in Wyoming
To become a licensed Dental Hygienist in Wyoming, individuals must obtain a state license from the Wyoming Board of Dental Examiners. Key steps include graduating from a CODA-accredited dental hygiene program, passing the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination (NBDHE), a regional clinical exam (CRDTS, WREB, SRTA, CITA, ADEX), and the Wyoming Jurisprudence Exam. Applicants must also submit a completed application with a $200 fee, provide proof of current CPR/BLS certification, and undergo a background check. Wyoming offers licensure by endorsement for those already licensed in another state with equivalent requirements.

| Notes | CPR/BLS certification is required for licensure and renewal. A background check is required. There is no specified minimum age. If a new license is issued in an even year, 8 hours of CE are required for the following year's renewal. If issued in an odd year, no CE is required for that renewal cycle. After the initial renewal, 16 hours are due every two years. CE must be clinical in nature and cannot include practice building or business management courses. BLS hours do not count toward the 16-hour requirement. If an applicant has been out of active clinical practice for less than five years, they must submit evidence of competency. If out of practice for more than five years, they must successfully complete a regional clinical examination and 8 hours of hands-on clinical CE for each year not actively practicing. |
