route How to become an insurance agent in California
To become a licensed Insurance Agent in California, individuals must be at least 18 years old and complete a 12-hour pre-licensing course on Ethics and the California Insurance Code. After completing the required education, applicants must pass the California Insurance Producer Licensing Exam and undergo a fingerprint-based background check. The application fee is $188, and the exam fee is $55. California offers reciprocity with many states for non-resident insurance producer licenses, but non-residents moving to California for a resident license must still complete the 12-hour California Code and Ethics course.
